Olympic Gold post box

Dear readers,

Yesterday I decided to pop into town to pick up a few bits. While there I remembered we have a gold post box in town!! Olympic athlete Eitenne Stott from Bedford won gold in the c2 category of the canoe slalom, therefore the royal mail who had said before the games started "would paint post boxes Gold in the home town of each British gold medallists", did!!

Wow! It's a change from red!

Enjoy your week.

The Olympic's 2012 - My Trip.

Dear World,

Ever since I was little I have loved watching the Olympics on TV at home. So many great athletes show casing their skills at their own sport that they have spent many hours, days, weeks, months and even years training in to become the best. It is a place where dreams are created and lost! So many different emotions.
Roll on to 2012 and the torch arrived in our country, letting people know a big event will be taking place soon. And yes, after hearing BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles go on about torch cam, I went out to see the torch pass by my town. Such a sight that I know I might never see again in my life time.
The opening ceremony of the Olympics had been kept such a secret that the eye of the world were all on LONDON.... London didn't disappoint! Such a British show, with many famous faces featuring The Queen, James Bond and who could forget Mr Bean!! The ceremony help portray how our country developed from open country side, to an Iron force. Also show casing our music, which is already heard around the world. When the athletes entered the stadium I couldn't believe how many people were taking part in these games, but also how many different countries there were!! Greece entered first and followed by the rest of the countries alphabetical order, a part from Great Britain as they are the host country. I hope the rest of world enjoyed the show as much as I did, but also understood most of it too.

The first day, after the opening ceremony, the events started. From that first day I was hocked watching, listen and reading about all the events. I had the first week off, and couldn't help but watch anything and everything!! From Cycling to Archery! The first gold by Team GB arrived on Wed 1st August. A day I won't forget as it's my birthday! The women's pair in the Rowing won team's GB's first GOLD and brought on the gold rush!

Moving forward just over a week, to Thursday 9th August. This was the day I had been waiting for as I got my chance to visit the games!! It was an early start, 5am train to London, then on to the Javelin to take us straight to the Olympic park. My family, friends and I brought the tickets a year in advance, we had tickets to the day event for the athletics,
this included:
  • Men's Decathlon - 110m Hurdles
  • Women's High Jump - Qualification
  • Men's Decathlon - Discus Throw
  • Men's 4 x 400m Relay - Qualification
  • Men's Decathlon - Pole Vault
A packed morning, with many different events! My brother and Dad were unable to make the games, so my neighbour's joined us instead. We all loved the day!! Such an exciting day, sitting in that stadium, an amazing place! So many people in one place, flags of so many different countries, colour filled the place! After watching a few events we had a break, where the crowds was started in a sing-a-long, i never thought I'd sing YMCA with a crowd like that! Or "reach for the stars" by S club 7.
After our sing and dance, we got back to the sports. Such a great show, cheering on all the athletes, willing them to do their best! However did get to see a discus throw nearly take out one of the small mini cars that were collecting the equipment - This got a cheer from the crowd!!

The morning Que to get into the park.
The Aquatic Centre
The Orbit - Didn't get a chance to go up this
however one day I'll go back...Soon.
Inside the stadium...Wow
The Olympic flame
Close up of the flame.

Such an amazing day!! Once in a life time... so many memories from watching these games to. Great Britain were a brilliant team, 29 Gold medals, 17 Silver, 19 Bronze = 65 total!! WOW.
These games will be remembered for many events, but I will remember that I was there!!

I hope you've enjoyed it all too, the highs and low of which these games have brought.

Therefore with so many lovely presents, some sent from family that I haven't seen over my birthday week, I wanted to send a thank you card. So here are the ones I made:
These are mini cards, with flower pictures placed in the middle
with ribbon along the bottom.
Here is a close up of the cards.

Then because I ran out of flowers I made a different one:

My cat shoes - Boohoo

Dear fashion loving friends,

When it comes to shoes, you always need that perfect pair to go with an outfit. Sometimes it heels, others times its wedge, but flats are perfect for most occasions. However it doesn't matter how pretty some shoes are if they aren't comfy then your feet will tell you about it later.
Last week while having a look on line at clothes I found these beauties on Boohoo.com:

Now I love animals so these shoes with cat faces on the front are so cute!! I had to have both colours as I couldn't decide between the two. On the black pair the face really shows up, however the Leopard print is pretty too!  They come in many different sizes 3-8 however half sizes aren't available. Suedette material, the faces are stitched on the front with the ears cut out helping them to show up more. These shoes are very comfy, can be worn with skinny jeans or a nice skirt or summer dress. There is a designer pair which many celebrities have been wearing, The Charlotte Olympia Kitty flats priced at £485. Now, I don't have that kind of money to spend on a pair of shoes, so my boohoo.com pairs were priced at £18 each so a much better price for me.

Can't wait to show off my new shoes!!

Film Review - Ted

Hello film lovers,

On Friday with a some time on my hands, my friend and I went to see the new film from the Creator of Family Guy, Seth MacFarlane, called Ted. If you don't like family guy, this isn't a film for you, as the same type of humour is used in the film, with many actors who give their voices to characters in family guy such as Mila Kunis (Meg) and Patrick Warburton (Joe) staring along side the main characters in this film.
The story is about a young boy, John (Mark Wahlberg) who doesn't have any friends, so when he gets a Teddy bear for Christmas, his one wish is that the teddy bear was real so he could have a friend. A shooting star is just pasting at the time John is making his wish (Like they do) and his wish come true. John is so happy he wants everyone to know, his parents reaction had me laughing out loud!! They aren't quite sure what they are seeing, which I do think would be true for most people. Ted becomes famous over night, with everyone wanting to meet the Teddy bear that is alive.
Fast forward to the present day, John is now in his 30's living with his girlfriend Lori (Mila Kunis) and Ted (Seth MacFarlane). Instead of working hard at the job he has, John would rather spend time smoking and drinking with Ted. This doesn't put his girlfriend in the right mood, especially when she comes home to find Ted with four hookers and some poo on her living room floor!! John is given a choice Lori or Ted!
This is such a funny film with all the craziness Ted gets up to! Wow such a dirty, naughty bear! Definitely not for KIDS! But adults will be laughing all the way through the film. With all classic family guy ideas involved in, even Ted being told he sounds like Peter Griffin!! Oh yeah, I love the thunder song! I want to sing this next time we have a thunder storm!
If you want to de-stress from work and a laugh, this is the film to see. But be warned it can get rude!!
Enjoy the film,

Love Lolly

Film Review - Batman

Dear film lovers,

At the Weekend, finally I got to see the film Batman the dark knight rises, after the long wait the film didn't disappoint! Now, I loved the first two films and felt these films reflected the comic books, taking the well known character and bringing him to life. He is my favourite of all the super hero's, I think it has something to do with the fact he doesn't really have a super power, but works hard to defend the city he loves, but also I think he's hot! (Christian Bale) The gadgets and cars are other reasons to love this character. Now if you haven't seen the last two film...WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN?? Such great films, with such wonderful casts, Michael Cain is such a classic actor and makes an excellent Alfred. The last two films blew me away, they are time less, letting you be able to watch them over and over again and still find parts you might of missed in the film. Dam, I wish I could borrow that car for the day. Anyway getting back to this film and away from my driving, parts of the film were filmed locally to me, (Now I never got to see any of this happen, but wished I could of). The large hangers in Cardinton were used to film some of the scenes for the film. These two building are a large landmark in our area and were used throughout much of the first world war. They are now used as storage areas and also for film sets. However over the last few years, all the Batman films parts of the films have been filmed here.
Back to the film itself. In this film we meet cat women, played by Anne Hathaway, know for such films as The Devil Wears Prada and The Princess Diaries so I wasn't sure of her playing cat women, a part played by many different women before her. After seeing her in the film, she totally changed my mind! Wow, she showed what she was made of, created new version of cat women that we haven't seen before on screen, but one that will stay with you long after the film has finished. Moving on to Bane (Tom Hardy), was such a scary villain!! Understanding what he said at times due to the mask, and that of the character was difficult at times, this doesn't take away from just how scary a character he is! The mask covers most of his mouth, meaning that his eyes and body language have to most of the work, this takes plenty of skill as an actor, which he has plenty of! The character of Bane is total scary, I think they have created a wonderful Villain to carry on after the Joker. Other characters in this film are Blake, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, his character helps bring back Batman to fight Bane and save Gotham. We also follow him as he works hard to help Batman and the police stay ahead of Bane. A much needed added character to the film, he helps will on Batman to return and help fight back against Bane, but doesn't just sit still, he also leads a fights and help the citizens of Gotham.
So many twists and turns in this film, many new characters added, so many moments that will have you on the edge of your seat! We get to see references from the past two films, they aren't lost, but help to develop the out come of this film. I do feel that I need to go see this film again as so much happens!

Such a GREAT film!
Enjoy.
