Birthday present - brownies is a jar!

Hello everyone,

I was a friends birthday last week, I got her a few gifts, but I didn't have time to bake a cake or anything! But while searching through Pinterest I found a great idea (I love Pinterest for the craft ideas) to put all the ingredients into jar, by laying them up and adding the instructions to let my friend bake away.

I got a jar, green being my friends favourite, added all the ingredients in layers to create a great texture and colours in the jar.
To create this yourself you'll need:

1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
95g plain flour
35g cocoa
135g brown sugar
150g sugar
100g chocolate chips
100g white chocolate chips
Then in the instructions for the maker to add:
150g melted butter
3 beaten eggs.

The instructions you need to add:
Combine the contents of the jar we the melted butter and eggs. Mix well and pour into 9x9 inch tin. bake at gas 4/180 C (160fan) / 350 F for 25-35 minutes.

I'm sure my friend will enjoy these, may be her husband more.

A cup of tea to say good bye

Hey,

I'm at work tomorrow, but for one of my colleagues it's her last day. She's been with the company since she was 18 and she now in her late 30's. she has learning difficulties so struggles with some of the work, but she's always been a great little worker, very chatty and such wonderful person. I'm going to miss her loads, but will keep I'm touch with her outside of work I'm sure. At work she is in charge of drinks, mainly tea as we drink loads of it!! Therefore I wanted to get her a little gift from me (we are getting a group present) and as I was looking through some charity shop I came across this as a bargain:

It's so cute and at £4.00 it was a great little gift.

I've added fruit tea and earl grey with some sugar for her to enjoy.

There might be a few tears from us tomorrow, but we are going to create afternoon tea for us all to enjoy so she remembers us.

Enjoy your week,

Ghost the musical

Hello everyone,

Last night I had a girly night with my friends to the theatre. Our local is Milton Keynes, and on there was the musical "Ghost" based on the famous film staring Patrick Swayze, Demi Moore and Whoppi Goldberg. Now going to watch a musical based on a well know film isn't new to the theatre world, but I love this film soooooooooo much! having watched it many times as a child and growing up, therefore I knew it had to be good to impress me, but also I was worried about how they were going to create the idea of Sam being a ghost on stage.... However it was AMAZING!! Wow, fantastic... Beautifully created that you couldn't keep your eyes off the stage. It played out so much of the film that I love and added a creative sound track, keeping in the main song we all know and love, "Unchained Melody" which is used throughout the the performance. Where do I start... The staging was out of this world... Something so unexpected, how they change set so quick and fluid, from Molly and Sam's apartment to the street outside in New York city to an office. How they created Oda May Brown's Psychic shop, with the opening of the set, to the train scene is something I've never seen before! So much happens, drawing you into the performance with the characters really showing off everything you remember from the film. The actors never missed a beat, from their dancing, use of the stage and props, to their singing talents too. It keeps a fast moving pace, with the songs adding so much to the story, why Molly wants so much for Sam to say "I love you" instead of "Ditto" to how funny the introduction to Oda May Brown is, this had me in stitches. It was so over the top and created great humour in such a sad story. You feel like you are involved in the story, feeling all the emotions Sam goes through, how stuck he feels not being able to communicate with Molly. Also the effects used in show created the scene perfectly. I'm stilling trying to work out how they created the train scene with the turning of the train, from a side view to a view inside down through the seats. The movement in this part by the actors, but also the props used had me glued to the stage, it was like magic! However they didn't forget to add how they showed a character who had died moving on from this world to the next. May it be heaven with white lights and stars lifting them into the light. Or that of hell, with a mist taking over the stage, red filling the lights and a power pulling them into the darkness where they belong.

I would watch this show again, again, and yes again if I could. You go from great highs to great lows, by the end I was crying at how sad it made me feel, but smiling at how much I had enjoyed the show. My friends were also in tears too, declaring how amazingly beautiful the performance was, that when they get home they wanted to watch the film again.

If you get a chance, go see this production. I'm thinking of finding tickets to a show soon, not quite sure when or where, but to take my parents to see it, as I know they will love it, but also if they hasn't shown me the film when I was younger, I might have never fallen in love with it.

Paramore gig at Birmingham

Hey people!

I'm feeling a little tired today, as straight from work yesterday (had a half day and an early start) I went with friends to the LG Arena to see one of my favourite bands... PARAMORE, as they are on their autumn tour. It's been three years since they toured the UK last, however they did play a few festivals last year, including Reading where I saw them. I've loved this band for many years and was lucky to go see them back in 2009 with some friends when they played Wembley arena, then again in 2010 when they played London's O2 arena. However with changes to the band, they took time to create their new album which is self titled, and they have come back in style!! Oh how I have missed seeing them live. When I knew they were touring the UK I quickly booked tickets to see them, if I could afford it I would go more than once, however my bank balance won't allow this.
Last night they had two support acts, Eliza and the Bear, also Charlie XCX - she featured on the song "I love it" with Icona Pop, that's how I know her. They were both great acts to warm up the show, getting the atmosphere in the arena buzzing.
Paramore appeared on stage starting with "Grow Up" from their new album.
The set list went as follows:

  1. Grow Up
  2. Fast in my car
  3. That's what you get
  4. Decode
  5. Ignorance
  6. Interlude: I'm not angry anymore
  7. Now
  8. Daydreamering
  9. When it rains
  10. Last Hope
  11. Brick by boring brick
  12. Interlude: Holiday
  13. Crushcrushcrush
  14. Ain't it fun
  15. The only exception
  16. In the morning/ Landslide
  17. Pressure
  18. Misery Business
Encore:
  1. Part II
  2. Interlude: Moving on
  3. Still in to you
The amount of energy the band has is shown on the stage, by running, jumping round they all do! They played many songs off of their new album, but didn't forget about classics everyone loved, like Misery Business, when Hayley picked a member of the audience to join her on stage to sing the main lines of the song with her!! The young girl was so excited and luckily knew all the words too.
Paramore told fans how thankful they were to be back and how much they loved coming to the UK, they talked about how much the tour, making the new album and continuing the band meant to them, how the fans made everything.
I enjoyed singing along to all the songs... a little out of tune but I'm sure it didn't stop others enjoying the show. It's always great to see a band you love live... I just can't wait to see them again soon.

I'm sure the memory of the gig will last for ages, but to keep it going I brought myself a T-shirt and a wrist band.
its a bit creased from being folded up in my bag.

love these rubber wrist bands.
our view.. we were seated.

Paramore

Paramore!!

I just hope they come back to the UK again soon!! No matter how much I'd love to go see them in another country I don't think my bank balance would agree.

Enjoy you week,

My new Barry M gelly hi-shine Polish

Heyyyy!

I love painting my nails on my days off. However due to my work it never lasts very long... I have my hands in water, using knives and scissors... My nails polish ends up chipped and looking naff!
I really wanted to try the gelly hi shine and see how long that lasts. I brought myself two colours from the many different choices, I picked blue and pink as they are colours I wear the most. I chose grapefruit and blueberry.
The first time it tried it, i didn't layer it on right and ended up looking rubbish!!
The next time i tired a week later it was fantastic!

I applied a based coat first and then the Grapefruit colour... It looks great on its own.

I wanted it to look a little different so i used the Jewel glitter polish i had for my birthday.
I think it makes it more girly and pretty.

Enjoy your week,

Hello,

Back in August I went to a craft fair in Stevenage, I got the info about it from a local craft shop close to where i live, they were having a stand at the show and told me their would be many other stalls. Therefore a friend and me decided to spend our Sunday at the fair... However it was a very HOT day... So i was very glad that they were able to open the door to the sports hall or it would of been very uncomfortable.
There were plenty of stall with much to buy!! From stamps to cards and many ideas for Christmas.
Here's what I brought:
peals and gems

3D cut outs

Cute Football stamp

The other side of the stamp

My cousin's birthday Present

Hiya... Its me again,

My little cousin turned 13 this month! Where has the time gone... I still remember when she was little and used to run around, wanted to play with dolls. Now she's in love with Justin Bieber and Taylor Lautner. I know, she a true teenager at the mo, She's still very girly at heart so i wanted to make something for her.
Earlier in the year i picked up a wooden jewellery box cheap, it was just a plain white wood, so I added a paint to make it look pretty for her. She knows I love making things so would love something i had created for her.

Before:

just a little plain for my liking.

After:
Pink top and pink sides with white edges.

Inside with still the mirror.

She loved it! Which I'm glad about and I had fun decorating it.

My Nan's birthday gift!

Hey everyone,

I'm still busy writing many post for you all to enjoy, many from what i was busy doing last month and I'm still catching up on my life. Well it was my Nannie's birthday and a special one for her, so I really had to think what to get a person who is a shopaholic like me! I couldn't find much on the high street i really liked, so instead i searched the web, when I came across the site www.notonthehighstreet.com and found many great ideas! I wanted some thing personal for her to keep, I came across the perfect gift... I thought I'd ask my brother and Cousins if they'd like to come in on the gift with me as it would help with the cost.
I found a beautiful bracelet, you can add as many heart that you like. You can
add details to the front and back. One side I put each of the granchildren's and great granchildren's names and the other their date of birth.

My Nannie was very please with her gift and has been showing it to all her friends.

I also made her a special card:
I also brought her flowers for her to enjoy.

Hope you all have a nice week,

Reading Festival 2013

Hellooo,

This August Bank holiday weekend I spent it in a field.. but not just any field, just outside Reading where Reading festival was taking place, a weekend full of music. It was a chill away from normal life which was just what i needed!
I went to the festival last year and was lucky to see two of my favourite bands plus many more. The main reason I booked the ticket for this year was that I wanted to see Eminem, an artists I've loved since I was 10.. and my brother had his songs, I would sing them all day. Anyway getting back to the festival, i went with my friend who wanted to see many of the bands too.

The Camping
We camped in Brown camp as we had parked in the white car park, so it was closer walk. For anyone planning to go in the future, you are best to go early!! That way you get a better camping stop, each time I've had to leave later due to work and this doesn't help when you get there, as there isn't much space left. Luckily we squeezed between two tent (I asked first) and had just enough room to put up our tent.
When camping, I find taking minimal is the best choice, remember you've got to carry it all, so a rucksack full of your essentials, a sleeping bag, roll mat, tent and any food and drink you may want.

The Music

The main area for the festival had got bigger, there was extra stages. Overall there was 8 different stages;

  • Main Stage
  • NME/ BBC Radio 1 Stage
  • BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage
  • Lock Up/ Rock stage
  • Festival Republic Stage
  • BBC 1 Xtra Stage
  • Alternative Stage
  • BBC introducing stage
With all these stages, there's plenty to choice from. We checked the day before to see the times when acts were playing, but you can buy a weekend program which costs £10. This helps you find out all the clashes on each of the stages, but also know where you favorite acts maybe.

We mostly spent time at the Main stage and NME/ BBC Radio 1 stage as that was where the acts i liked were playing. I saw:
  • Green day
  • Eminem
  • Chase and status
  • White lies
  • Biffy Clyro
  • Fall out boy
  • The Lumineers
  • Editors
  • Don Broco
  • Hadouken!
  • A$AP Rocky
  • Bastille
  • Frightened Rabbit
  • Peace
  • Kodaline
  • Dry the river
  • Imagine Dragons
  • Palma Violets
  • Haim
  • The Dog is dead
  • The 1975
  • Half moon run
It did take a lot of running from one stage to another... But it was planned out in the morning as we were getting ready to head to the arena.

There is plenty of food venders to choice from! Including giant Yorkshire puddings with meat, veg and gravey. Burgers, pizza, chips, pasta, the list goes on. All plenty of bars to make sure you are enjoying yourself too.

Overall I loved this year at Reading Festival... Every time I hear a song from the festival, I'm wishing I could go back and hear them all again. Now I'm just waiting to know who's playing next year, to know if I should go again!
