My Dad's Birthday Card

Just a quick one,

This month is my Dad's birthday, I won't tell you the date or how old he is. But he has a love of sport, so creating a card based around sport is perfect for him. My dad has got into golf over the past few years, which was the theme of his card.

I hope he likes it!

Book Review - The Wedding Girl

Hiya,

I read this book over a year ago now, when I was on my winter holiday to the sun. I thought I'd share it with you anyway as it was an enjoyable read, but also thought many of you out there might like it too.

The Blurb Reads:
At eighteen, Milly was up for anything. So when a friend asked
her to marry him just so that he could stay in England, she didn't
hesitate. To make it seem real she dressed up in wedding finery
and posed on the steps of the registry office for photographs.

Now, ten years later, Milly is a very different person. Engaged
to Simon - who is good-looking, wealthy and adores her -
she is about to have the biggest and most elaborate wedding
imaginable, all masterminded by her mother. Nobody knows
about her first marriage, so it's almost as though it never
happened - isn't it?

But with only four days to go, it looks as though Milly's past is
going to catch up with her. Can she sort things out before her
fairytale wedding collapses around her? How can she tell Simon?
And worse still, how can she tell her mother...?

Looking for a holiday read by the beach, this could be it. Another great read from from Sophie Kinsella writing as Madeleine Wickham. When you are young, your life is full of adventure, but as you grow up, the past can catch up with you, for Milly she is having a case of deja vu.

Enjoy.

Hand made cards - Birthday Cards

Afternoon,

So on sunday while I had a bit of time on my hands, as I didn't want to go outside in the snow, I thought I'd better get making some Birthday cards as before I know the birthday would be here. I really need to spend a whole day making some cards, might have to book a day in my diary so I can do that!

I love making animal cards, I find them quite cutie and add character to a card. Cupcakes also work well on cards, also everyone seems to enjoy them, which is perfect as a card.

These are just quick cards, all with a 3D effect.

My New iPhone cover

Hello,

I love my iPhone and always want it looking good, as it's one of my main accessories that I have on me. I've got a few different case, but I'm always on the look out for more. Last week I received a late Christmas present from a friend (Yeah, just a bit late but worth it). It was a very cute Bunny iPhone cover.
From the front you can see the large ears
and behind an attachable tail, that also
helps hold the phone up.

The tail is cute extra on the design.
Fluffy texture too!

I've been showing this to friends and family who all love it too, and know its perfect for me!!

Book Review - Cocktails for Three

Hello All,

I've been busy looking at all the books I've collected over the years, I don't mind reading the same book twice, but there's nothing like the first time you read a story. Most book I get are from suggestions from friends or family. I have got a few from suggestions from other authors or reading books by authors I know. Some authors do like to have different writing styles aimed at different audiences so do go by different names. They might what to show case their talents differently as it isn't their normal style. Sophie Kinsella is an author who likes to do this. She is well know for her fun loving stories, including The Secret dream world of a shopaholic, Twenties Girl and I've got your Number. Sophie Kinsella also writes under the name of Madeleine Wickham, which I find are much more gritty, hard hitting stories. They aren't too over the top, but an interesting read.
The first of her novels I read was "Cocktails For Three" which was brought as a present from a friend.
The Blurb reads:
Three great friends, smart, successful, meet for
cocktails and gossip once a month.

Roxanne: Glamorous, self-confident, with a secret lover-
will he ever leave his wife and marry her?

Maggie: Capable and high-achieving - will she take
motherhood in her stride?

Candice: Honest, decent, or so she believes - how will she
cope when a ghost from her past turns up?

Then one night a conversation with the cocktail waitress sets in
train an extraordinary chain of events which will affect all
three women's lives. Will their friendship survive?

A gripping read of three women's lives, how each deal with their problems differently, thinking the others won't understand. A nice read, with a few twists and turns to keep you involved.

Look Magazine

Dear Friends,

For Christmas I was given a Magazine subscription from a friend, the Magazine is Look. I love this Mag, and buy it nearly every Week, so getting this subscription was perfect for me!!

I love the mix of Fashion, Celebrities and real life. The fashion side shows whats hot, but also where to get it too!! What Celebrities are wearing and where to get it on the high street. I love finding top trends in fashion, but also beauty. Real life stories are in here too, helping learn from people who have been in that situation before you, be that work related, family or love life.
The celebrity gossip will also help make use you are up to date on who is dating whom!!

Film Review - Jack Reacher

Dear Film fans,

It a new year, which means plenty of new and exciting films entering the cinema. Over the Christmas break I didn't get a chance to go to the cinema, therefore only last week did I finally get to watch the new Tom Cruise film "Jack Reacher" based of the set of books by the author Lee Child.

If you like actions films, then check out this film. Starts a little slow, however it is need for you to understand the plot of the story. We follow a man as he drives his van into a car park where he takes out a gun and kills members of the public who are going about their daily lives. With 5 people murdered, the police enter to try and find the killer, however everything isn't all it seems. Jack Reacher steps in to find out the truth, why were five people killed? His search leads to others trying to stop him finding out the truth, which for us gives some great action. There is a fight inside a crack house with two large druggies, this adds a touch of humour to all the violence. Tom Cruise has really brought the character of Jack Reacher to life, creating a dark mysterious person who has you gripped to the story.

New Jersey Nights - Theatre Night

Morning Everyone,

Well yesterday was Wednesday, the half way point through the working week for most people. What did you do? I spent mine, singing and dancing while watching "Jersey Night"! I'm glad I got tickets for this show, a great way to spend an evening. The cast take you on a musical celebration of all the hits of Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Four fantastic singers are the main people who take you through each of the hits, including Sherry, Rag Doll, Can't Take My Eyes Off You, and Big Girls Don't Cry. Backing dancers, take you back to the times when these hit were big, with their costumes helping to enhance this, they are beautiful. Showing their moves on the stage will have you fixed to what they will be doing next. Also joining the singers and dancers were a fabulous live Rock band, who were up on the stage for you all to see them in action.
Overall if you want a different enjoyable night out, go see this show!! "New Jersey Night!" There are still tickets left for this week in Milton Keynes till Saturday.

Handmade Card - Shoe design

Hey craft lovers,

I've got plenty of birthday on their way, therefore know I need to get busy and make some more cards. Here's a quick one I made earlier (As they used to say on Blue Peter).

Here's what you need to create this card:

Over all a quick but pretty card to make. I love using stamps as you can use them again, and again, but also change the colour of each item but using a different colour ink.
I've got plenty of more cards to make, so I'll show you them soon.

Take care,

Book review - "I heart Vegas" and "I Heart London"

Heyaaaa,

Hope you all are well, I just thought I'd give you two books that you might want to check out!! I posted last year about "I heart New York" which is the first in this series, followed by "I hear Hollywood" and "I heart Paris", I gave you reviews on all these books. If you have read them, hope you enjoyed them as much as I have. Now, if you didn't already know there two more that have been about for a while that follow on in the series. They both carry on Angela Clark's life and how she seems to find plenty to do where ever she is!

Book four:
The Blurb reads:
What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...

Angela Clark love her life as a Brit in New York.
Unfortunately, she's also a Brit who's lost her job.
And when the immigration department gets wind of this
just before Christmas, Angela needs to find a new
job urgently. Or a Husband. And she doesn't think
her boyfriend Alex will be keen.

A girls' weekend in Vegas with her best friend Jenny seems the
perfect way to forget her troubles. From the minute they arrive
Angela is swept up in a whirl wind of cocktails, outrageous outfits,
late nights and brushes with the chapel of love. But soon,
rather than escaping trouble, Angela is up to her neck in it...

After three great books, this next addition to the series follows on perfectly. Its not just the guys who get to have all the fun in Vegas, but the girls know how to paint the town red! Angela wants to forget her troubles, but we all know you shouldn't run, which Angela has done before. We all want to be this girl having fun in Vegas, however knowing things won't get better till she sorts out her life, I know i wouldn't be able to stop worrying. Such a fun read, which will just having turning pages before you know it!! Great Girly read.

The fifth book:
The Blurb reads:
Home is where the heart is. Right?

Angela Clark has fallen in love with New York -
and it's starting to love her back. But when she's
summoned home to England, she's at risk of losing her
shiny new life to rain, warm beer and bad memories.
Talk about stepping back in time.

There's Mark, the ex-boyfriend - who she ran to New York
to get away from.

There's Louisa, her best friend, with her terrifying new baby.

And there's her mum, still talking to her as though she's fifteen.

Now there's a wedding in the offing - and everyone
remembers how well Angela behaved at the last one...
Can the arrival of boyfriend Alex and new best friend Jenny
save her from a re-run of her old self?

The series bring us to London (My local city), Angela's old home. I love the fact the author has brought the main character back to her home place, the place which she ran away from. Angela gets to find out how much has changed. Craziness follows Angela which we found out in the last books, and continues in this book too!! If you have read the other books you need this in your life too.

Enjoy your weekend,

Love Lolly

Book review - The Secret Lives of Dresses

Greetings,

We are all looking forward to the summer already (Yeah, I'm bored of these wet cold days and nights) but to pass the time I love curling up on the sofa with a good book to read. I was brought this book by a friend, who thought it was funny as I'm a girl who owns MANY dresses, therefore she thought this book would suit me.
The blurb reads:
Dora is in love with a man who barely notices
her, has a job she doesn't care about, and dresses
entirely for comfort, not style. All a far cry from
her vivid, eccentric childhood, growing up with
her beloved grandmother Mimi.

However, when disaster strikes, Dora knows
she has no choice but to return to her childhood
home and take over running Mimi's vintage clothing
shop. And there she makes a surprise discovery -
Mimi's been writing stories to accompany every dress
she sells. Romantic, heartbreaking tales about each
one's secret life before it got to her shop...

Dora starts to matchmake these lonely frocks
with new owners, but will the stories help her as
well? Trading her boring high street clothes for
vintage glamour is one thing. What she needs to
know is whether she can trade her safe old life
- and love - for something better too?

My friend may of thought this book would be a bit of a joke with its title and the fact that the main character is call Dora, which is close to my real name. However, it was a book I really enjoyed reading. Clothes and Love mixed together, what more could i ask for? A lovely story about a young girl dealing with the loss of her Grandmother, trying to cope without her, but also understanding her love of vintage clothes. An endearing story to read and share with others. Therefore if you are looking for a new read, why not pick up a copy of this book.

Homemade cards - Thank you and Christmas

Hello,

Before Christmas I didn't get much time to make Christmas cards, which I was disappointed about. I'm gonna get some made for next year!! However I did get chance to make two, for my Grandparents.

Now Christmas has passed, I received many lovely presents, now I just need to say Thank you, so I've spent a bit of time making some cards. Mostly for family.

The Character is created from a stamp, which I've
then coloured in.

Just a cute handmade card, so I can say thank you.

Welcome to 2013

Hello everyone!

Sorry i haven't posted in a while, the new year has been keeping me busy already. Straight into the new year, my friend and I went to the Theatre to see Milton Keynes Christmas Panto - Cinderella. Staring Louie Spence, this made my friend and I book our tickets. We are quite big fans of his, and find him very funny but also an incredible dancer. Of course I love dance so was excited to see him take to the stage in an acting role too! The cast were fantastic, with Anna Williamson (From Daybreak) as Cinderella, Kev Orkian (Comedy) as lovable buttons and Deniece Pearson (80's pop Icon) as Cinderella's Fairy Godmother. All held the attention of children and adults alike, with everyone singing and dancing away. Many jokes included, which gave you all a giggle. I hadn't been to a Panto in years, so this was perfect, but also finished off the Christmas season.

I've also been busy sorting out my wardrobe, which if you know me, is a tough task as it isn't little. I've got a collection of many bags, shoes, oh yeah plenty of dresses. Therefore I decided before I started shopping in the sales this year, I needed to clear out some of the old to make way for the new. I've got just a few black sacks full!! At the start of the year its always new to have a tidy up and feel fresh for the new year.

Speak to you soon,

Love Lolly
xoxo
