Book review - Wedding Night

Evening,

This post is a little late in the day, but I'm getting it out here while i can.

Today's book is another from Sophie Kinsella, one of my favs.

What do you do when you think

your sister's about to marry 

the wrong man?

It's all gone wrong with the man Lottie thought was

Mr Right. Then out of the blue she gets a call from her 

first love. She decides it must be Fate, and rushes off to 

marry him and rekindle their sizzling Greek island romance.

Lottie's older sister can't believe she's doing something 

so crazy. No more Ms Nice Sister, she's stopping this 

marriage. Right away! And she'll go to any 

lengths to do so...

This is a fast moving fun book, telling the story of two sisters from their points of view through out the book, Fliss the older sister, knows what its like to married to the wrong man, not that she knew he was wrong at the time. She's seen her world torn apart and doesn't want the same for her baby sister. Lottie just wants a man to love her, she thought she had found that with Richard, but when he doesn't propose when she thought he would on their romantic meal out, she questions their future. Then when an ex turns up out of the blue, Lottie feels like this is what love must be like, after many years of not seeing him, she feels he's been whats missing in her life, a quick suggestion of marriage and the two are off to get hitch. Fliss isn't gonna let her sister make the same mistakes she made in life, this marriage  isn't going to last, therefore she not gonna let it get past the starting post.
A tale of two sister, both with best intentions, however you'll love the craziness of their lives, feel the same way about men they do, as well as the love only two sister can share.

I hope you enjoy it, as its another great book by Sophie Kinsella.

Wanna read it Wednesdays - Book review: The Raven Boys

Sorry, this show of posted yesterday, my fault... but here it is for you to enjoy today, as its a must!

I found another book I wanted to share with you all. I got hold of this a little over a year ago, one day when i was in a book shop. I read the blurb and just wanted to know more... I must admit it was one i didn't want to put down. The Raven Boys, written by Maggie Stiefvater.

Even if Blue hadn't been told

her true love would die if she 

kissed him, she would stay away 

from boys. Especially the ones from 

the local private school. Known as 

Raven Boys, they only mean trouble.

But this is the year that everything 

will change for Blue.

This is the year that she will be drawn 

into the strange and sinister world of

will discover that magic does exist.

This is the year she will fall in love. 

A gripping story of a young lady who stands out, but doesn't fit in till she finds a group of boys she knows are trouble. From a family of people who are good at predictions she knows to trust them, but Blue (Love this name for a character) can't see predictions like the rest of her family, however she can always enhance the magic of others, making her a strong character. Blue leads herself, plus you the reader into this creative story of magic. 

I just loved this book, how would you feel that if you kissed your true love, he would die... a hard prediction for any teenager! The magic with in the book has you wanting to hunt the hills, to find magic for yourself. 

This book is actually part one of four... I'll share the next books with you soon, as i know once you read this one you will want the next too!!

Book review - Paper Towns by John Green

Afternoon,

I've decided I've got to share with you the books I've been reading over the last year as I have let my blog side a bit (life has been busy) so now I've claimed back a bit of my time I feel I need to share with you the many books I've been reading, (which was mainly on the train, or on my holidays). 

Today's book I need to share with you is by John Green (the same author of the best selling The Fault in our Stars) 

Blurb reads:

The take place in Florida, USA known as the sunny state, but as this book reveals no all is what you know. A place built up with expectations doesn't always go to plan. Quentine has always been obsessed with Margo the girl next door who plays by her own rules, each day watching her, wanting to know more about her. When she goes missing he believes only he can find her. With clues that take him all over Florida he find out more about the state he lives in, plus the life that Margo lead. She was more complicated than he ever realised. 

This book makes you step back and look at the lives we lead, are we following the herd or finding out the small bits in life that really do mean more than you realise. A beautiful story, and a read for the many.  A film of this book is set to come out some time in 2015.

Book review - "Always the Bridesmaid" by Lindesy Kelk

Hey Everyone,

It's been a while since I posted on my blog, and I really need to get back into it, as I've missed it so much. Well after reading this book I knew I had to share it with you. 

"Always the bridesmaid" is the fun new book by Lindsey Kelk, OUT TODAY 7th May. 

When you are asked to be your friends bridesmaid it's meant to an exciting time, but for Maddie who works as an events planner, she only want to help in little bits for her friend Lauren... Not plan the whole thing for her best friend but all within three months! Not asking for much, when she's turning into a bridezilla. Not only that her other bestfriend Sarah the news of a wedding isn't what she needs as she now getting divorced. 

Between dealing with her best friends she up for a promotion at work, one that she never thought she'd get, however the clients are far from easy, asking for pink bunny rabbits amongst other things. Oh yeah and the boss from hell, Maddie has got it all going on. Don't forget the new guy, Will, she has just meet, fall head over heels for him, even if he isn't telling her everything, plus his some what of a friend Tom has some interest in her, which Maddie isn't to sure about. 

Overall some craziness before a wedding is what you always need... Errr what could possibly go wrong, or in better words what could go right? 

I loved this book, it had me reading on into the early hours of the morning just to find out what happened next, I know you'll have trouble putting it down too.

To all you future bridesmaids... Hang in there!

I've only been a bridesmaid once, but have worked in the wedding industry for many years so know all the ins and outs.. It can get a bit crazy, so you need to just keep calm.

Book Review - "I heart Christmas"

Hello,

I know its march... but still Christmas will arrive before you know it... If you can't wait that long you can always pick up a book to read about CHRISTMAS instead.

The blurb reads:

I know I'm reading this book after christmas but it was still a joy to read, and might have to read it again nearer christmas. Its follows on from the other books in the "I heart" series, you get to know more about Angela's life living in New York and the crazy times she takes on with her, friends (in New York and back in the UK), her family and her husband. Christmas is never quiet and Angela knows it. 

After reading this book all i want is more!! Ahhh hurry up Lindsey and write me the next book... Pretty Please.

Book Review - "Allegiant"

Hey,

I've reviewed the first two books in this series so i had to tell you about this one too! It is the last book in the series, of the story of Tris.

The Blurb reads:

This story is told from dual perspective, from the oringal character Tris and now from Tobis (Four), you get to see how he feels about the life they are walking into away from the city they both have grown up in and have been hurt by. But what they find on the outside isn't what they both expected. Plus old faces who they thought was lost appear... Leaving many more questions to their world. Divergents are what they have been looking for, Tris is their main aim, however when her friends don't fit in a split appears around the once tight friendly group. How would you feel if you were told there was something wrong with you, that your whole life has been a lie, the only world you know has been a lie. Tris and Tobias must be strong together when everything is ready to tear them apart. Each knows they have a place in this new world, but can't forget the one they have left behind, but won't stop fighting for the one they have known. 

This book changes from character, giving you more of as view into the new world they are in, but I feel the story isn't as strong as the first two. I'm also a little sad to how the story ends, I don't want to give anything away but I wished for a different furturer for the couple I have fallen for, their story and their life. However it is always a choice we get to make, so in keeping with the book, as you go on into your future...Be brave....

Book review - "Insurgent"

Hey,

So I recently told you about a book I read called "Divergent" well I also read the second book in the trilogy called "Insurgent". 

The blurb reads:

"Tris has survived a brutal attack on her former home

and family. But she has paid a terrible price. 

Wracked by grief and guilt, she becomes ever more 

reckless as she struggles to accept her new future.

Yet if Tris wants to uncover the truth about her 

world, she must be stronger than ever... Because 

more shocking choices and sacrifice lie ahead. "

This book carries straight on from "Divergent" I think there is only a couple of hours that have past between the books, which mean you know everyone from one book to the next.... Tris has already lost so much, with both of her parents gone, she shot one of her best friends, is teamed with her worse enemy Peter and her boyfriends worse enemy his father, she doesn't know what is going to happen next. Her whole world has changed, she doesn't know whats going to happen next, all she know is that she has got Tobias, however with secrets between them how long before they fall apart too. Tris faces more choices within a world that is falling apart. She knows she must stand up and fight against Jeannie, but who else should she fight against or with. Her friends might see her in a different light if they know she killed on of their friends. 

Overall this is great book to follow "Divergent" bring more questions to the world in which Tris lives. The love story between her and Tobias keeps you wishing that they can have time for themselves in a world that doesn't know which way to turn.

Book review: The Time of my Life - Cecelia Ahern

Hiya,

A book review for you all, another book that i hope you will all enjoy as much as i did. From the author who also brought you "PS, I LOVE YOU" this is another beautiful tale. I haven't read ps, i love you yet, but have the book sitting on my shelf wait for some of my spare time.

The blurb reads:

Sometimes in life we forget what we wanted, we busy our self with life as we know it, work, friends and family issues that aren't really important, spent to much time watching rubbish TV, or shows we've already seen many times before. Sometimes is takes someone outside of your world to give you a reality check! That is what happens to the main character "Lucy" in this book, she's fallen into a rut. Her life is trying to help her find a way to enjoy life again.

Perfect book to enjoy the in sun shine we are expecting this week.

Book Review - Vanishing Acts by Jodi Picoult

Afternoon all,

Yep I've read another of Jodi Picoult's books, I've got a stack of them, some of what I've read and others still to read. I've enjoyed all of her books so far, and get myself caught up in the story line, always wanting to know what will happen to each of these characters and their story through out the books.

The blurb reads:

Why would a man who loved his wife - so mush that in the 

quarter century since her death, he hasn't found someone 

to take her place - why wouldn't he have a record of the life 

he'd had with her, of the baby they'd made?

Delia Hopkins had led a charmed life. Raised in rural

A beautifully gripping story about a Dad wanting the best for his child, like all parents do! Delia finds out that her dad took her away from her mother and staring over with out her, Delia needs to know what her life would of been like and was her dad right in doing what he did is all the court wants to know.

If you love other books by Jodi Picoult, then its a great follow on from other you may have read, and if not, why not take a chance and read this one!

book review - At First Sight

Afternoon all,

Another book that i have read recently is a Nicholas Sparks Novel, "At First Sight".

The Blurbs reads:

Jeremy Marsh once vowed he would never do three things: Leave 

New York City, give his heart away again after barely surviving one failed 

marriage, and most of all, become a parent.

Now Jeremy is living in the small town of Boone Creek, North

I now just have to chose which of his books to read next.

book review - Lone Wolf

Hey,

Yes I've read another book by Jodi Picoult, I just can't help myself, she has so many books to enjoy that I'm working my way through them all. This past month I've been reading "Lone Wolf" a tale of a family.

The Blurb reads:

A compelling emotional drama of love and guilt that grips 

from the very first moments.

He lives by the laws of nature, and would surely want to

book review - Jodi Picoult "Sing You Home"

Hello everyone,

Yes I've been reading again. Bet your wondering how I ever get anything done... I don't know either. Well the book I've had my nose stuck in, is another Jodi Picoult novel, "Sing You Home".

The Blurb reads: 

After Zoe Baxter loses her baby, the only way she can 

find of coping is to try again. But her husband Max 

disagrees - more than that, he wants a divorce. When 

they separate, there is no mention of the unborn children 

they created together, still waiting at the clinic. 

Then Zoe falls in love again, out of the blue, and finds 

herself with an unexpected second chance to have a family.

But Max has found a new life too - one with no place in 

it for people like Zoe. And he will stand up in court to say

Out of all of Jodi Picoult's novels I've read so far, this is the most powerful, asking plenty of questions into people personal lives. Asking what they are doing behind closed doors, who they are in love with, what they believe, means they should or should not have a family. Questions of sexuality vs believes of faith. In life is see it as each to your own, people should be able to believe in what they like, as long as they don't force or affect other people. "Sing You Home" asks many questions, but is also unique as a sound track has been created which you can download and listen to the listed track for each chapter.
Over all another gripping story and a brilliant read from Jodi Picoult, with many questions you might ask yourself about the story. So many emotions from all the characters included. Perfect, up to date, for the world we live in today.

Book review - The Host

Dear book lovers,

Stephenie Meyer is best know for the wonderful "Twilight Saga" which i love, and read time and time again. However Stephenie also has another book to her name, "The Host " is a sci if fiction story of our world being taken over by another race who take over a humans body.

The Blurb reads:

invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human 

hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity 

has succumbed.

This novel features what maybe the first love triangle which involves only two bodies, with you falling for the characters too!! Such a beautiful story that will have you hocked to how these three characters can cope together, but how they deal with the situation of the changing world around them. Each character adds another level to the story, with some against the human race, others willing to work together and some ready to fight back! The story is all told from Wanderer's point of view and how she copes with taking over Melaine's body, how she deals this new world she has been brought to, but also how she copes with this new emotion of love. A fantastic addition to Stephenie Meyer's collection of novels.

PS.. This book how now been made into a film, just like the Twilight saga, therefore a great reason to get in on the story.

Book review - The Gatecrasher

Morning,

I thought I'd give you another book review to enjoy, as an idea for your next read. Its another read from Madeleine Wickham also know as Sophie Kinsella.

The Blurb reads:

Fleur Daxeny is beautiful, unscrupulous, and has a large

announcements page she gatecrashes the funerals and memorial 

services of the wealthy, preying on rich, vulnerable man. She

their wealth. She finds herself lingering longer than she 

meant to, becoming involved in the family - but as 

Fleur rifles through Richard's files, it becomes clear that she is

A hugely enjoyable read, to follow the life of a women who preys on men at their weakest point. When you get involved with a family you find out everything about them, how can you turn away from a family who want you to stay? Another great read.

book review - Jodi Picoult "The Pact"

Afternoon,

With the evenings being dark, I decided to get my head in a new book. Next of my list to read was "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult, I've read and enjoyed many of her books so decided to try another of her novels.

The Blurb reads:

The Hartes and the Golds have lived next door to each other for

 eighteen years. They have shared everything from family picnics to 

chicken pox - so it's no surprise that in high school Chris and Emily's 

friendship blossoms into something more.

Only Chris knows the truth, but even he is unsure of the whole truth. The book questions young love, suicide and how close are friends that feel more like family. I feel in love with this story, spending hours turning the pages, wanting to know answers for myself, finding out the truth about these two families. If you haven't read one of Jodi's novels before, try this one for size, you'll full in love with each page you turn.

Book Review - The Wedding Girl

Hiya,

I read this book over a year ago now, when I was on my winter holiday to the sun. I thought I'd share it with you anyway as it was an enjoyable read, but also thought many of you out there might like it too.

The Blurb Reads: 

At eighteen, Milly was up for anything. So when a friend asked 

her to marry him just so that he could stay in England, she didn't 

hesitate. To make it seem real she dressed up in wedding finery 

and posed on the steps of the registry office for photographs.

she is about to have the biggest and most elaborate wedding

going to catch up with her. Can she sort things out before her

Looking for a holiday read by the beach, this could be it. Another great read from from Sophie Kinsella writing as Madeleine Wickham. When you are young, your life is full of adventure, but as you grow up, the past can catch up with you, for Milly she is having a case of deja vu.

Book Review - Cocktails for Three

Hello All,

I've been busy looking at all the books I've collected over the years, I don't mind reading the same book twice, but there's nothing like the first time you read a story. Most book I get are from suggestions from friends or family. I have got a few from suggestions from other authors or reading books by authors I know. Some authors do like to have different writing styles aimed at different audiences so do go by different names. They might what to show case their talents differently as it isn't their normal style. Sophie Kinsella is an author who likes to do this. She is well know for her fun loving stories, including The Secret dream world of a shopaholic, Twenties Girl and I've got your Number. Sophie Kinsella also writes under the name of Madeleine Wickham, which I find are much more gritty, hard hitting stories. They aren't too over the top, but an interesting read.
The first of her novels I read was "Cocktails For Three" which was brought as a present from a friend.

The Blurb reads: 

Three great friends, smart, successful, meet for 

cocktails and gossip once a month.

Book review - "I heart Vegas" and "I Heart London"

Heyaaaa,

Hope you all are well, I just thought I'd give you two books that you might want to check out!! I posted last year about "I heart New York" which is the first in this series, followed by "I hear Hollywood" and "I heart Paris", I gave you reviews on all these books. If you have read them, hope you enjoyed them as much as I have. Now, if you didn't already know there two more that have been about for a while that follow on in the series. They both carry on Angela Clark's life and how she seems to find plenty to do where ever she is!

Book four:

The series bring us to London (My local city), Angela's old home. I love the fact the author has brought the main character back to her home place, the place which she ran away from. Angela gets to find out how much has changed. Craziness follows Angela which we found out in the last books, and continues in this book too!! If you have read the other books you need this in your life too.

Book review - The Secret Lives of Dresses

We are all looking forward to the summer already (Yeah, I'm bored of these wet cold days and nights) but to pass the time I love curling up on the sofa with a good book to read. I was brought this book by a friend, who thought it was funny as I'm a girl who owns MANY dresses, therefore she thought this book would suit me.

The blurb reads:

Dora is in love with a man who barely notices 

her, has a job she doesn't care about, and dresses

entirely for comfort, not style. All a far cry from 

her vivid, eccentric childhood, growing up with 

her beloved grandmother Mimi.

However, when disaster strikes, Dora knows

My friend may of thought this book would be a bit of a joke with its title and the fact that the main character is call Dora, which is close to my real name. However, it was a book I really enjoyed reading. Clothes and Love mixed together, what more could i ask for? A lovely story about a young girl dealing with the loss of her Grandmother, trying to cope without her, but also understanding her love of vintage clothes. An endearing story to read and share with others. Therefore if you are looking for a new read, why not pick up a copy of this book.
