Film review - Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters

Hiya everyone,

I went to the cinema with some friends last night, I haven't been for ages so was excited to see something new. The first film my friends wanted to see turned out to be sold out!!!! Unlucky for us, so with a quick change of plan with decided to see "Hansel & Gretel Witch Hunters" a twist in the traditional fairy story we were told as children (Well I was). We saw this film in 3D which did work well, plenty of items coming out of the screen at you, my friend even jumped a few times which was funny to watch. Well, we are introduced to Hansel and Gretel, shown how they were left in the woods by their father and came across the a cottage made of sweets, where an evil witch lived, who trapped them and wanted to eat them (still with me? Remember all this part). One day the children are able to fight back and kill the witch by pushing her into the oven. The story continues years later when the children are grown up, the siblings are still together, turned bounty hunters fighting witches around the world. In a small town, children are going missing, Hansel and Gretel plan to find the witch taking them, apart from they don't expect secrets from their past to be revealed.
There are many fight scenes involved, plenty of action to get your fill, lots of blood and gore. It's a very fast moving film, with a great story line to keep you fixed on the film, for me the time went really quick!! I loved how Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton played the main characters, a brother and sister who have only each other. Also the are great action actors... Perfect for the parts in my opinion.

So if you get chance go see this film, I know my dad wants to see this soon too.

A friends Funeral Flowers

Hello Everyone,

Things have been very busy this last week, sadly I had a funeral last Friday of a family friend. It was a sad occasion, but he had been struggling with cancer, so now we all know he's at peace. The family had asked me to the flowers for the funeral, which I was very pleased about, as I got to create the last gift the family get to give. Many people think flowers are waste at funerals, as they are only used on the day. However I would say a funeral doesn't look right without flower. A coffin looks empty, even a small design over a full coffin spray looks nicer than having nothing. I know cost can be a big factor, but if you have a budget a florist can work to that, try asking for cheaper flowers, pick seasonal, and choose a colour scheme than picking every flower that goes in the design. Overall I also think flowers are the last gift you are giving your loved one, I do agree that you should send them before when the person is alive, but the family, friends and you can appreciate them on the day.  When the funeral has finished the flowers are the families to do with as they wish, you could take them home, view them in the garden or take to another loved ones grave.

I did enjoy creating these pieces and the family loved them too, but I also know my uncle would of loved that I made them for his funeral.

Red and White Wreath, Includes Roses and Carnations

Stem End Spray, Includes Roses and Veronica

Single ended Spray, Includes Carnations and Iris

Large Posy, mixed colours, Includes Roses,
Carnations and Lisianthus

All the flowers together at the funeral.

Outfit of the Day

Hello,

I thought I'd share with my outfit of the day, I've seen many people doing this on their blogs so thought I'd share mine with you too. I do own a large collection of clothes that is always growing, but like most people I do have my go to favorites that I can wear a lot. A week ago I went out with the girls for lunch, it wasn't the warmest of days, but I still wanted to feel girly so here's my out fit.
Sorry its not the best photo ever taken, I had to do it from a timer, and didn't really have the best place to put it for an angle... Anyway, I wore my new NYC T-shirt from Matalan, Long sleeve black t-shirt from H&M, Berry red Primark Skirt, Leopard print skinny belt from New Look, and Black boots from Dorothy Perkins. I thought this was a cute outfit for lunch out.

I'll share more with you soon,

Cute home made cards

Afternoon all,

I haven't had much time over the last month, so much going on in my little life. However some how I had chance one day to make some cards, mainly for birthdays that have been this last month. I haven't even started to get any ready for the birthdays I've got in March!!!
Two cute animal cards for birthdays.

A girly card, for my shopaholic friends.
The shoes and bag are a silver outline sticker,
then I've cut them out from coloured card.

Bit more of a manly card, including a racing car.

In March we have got Mothering Sunday on 10th, therefore I need to get busy and make a card for my mum.

Speak soon,

My holiday outfits

Evening,

So I might have mentioned that last month I was on holiday, yeah I'm missing the weather, but I thought I'd share with you two of the outfits I wore on holiday. Like most women I know, I always find it hard to pack for my holidays as I know if I don't pack something when I'm on holiday I'll wish I had packed it. (Yeah this happened). I did pack plenty of clothes, including dresses, here the two I packed.

A quick day to night wear outfit. Take away the legging and
denim jacket for my evening outfit.

Not much need to be added to this dress as its stunning
on its own. (From New Look summer sale last year)

I'll show you more of my dresses  another time.

Perfume Vera Wang - Lovestruck, floral rush

Readers,

Last month at this time I was away on Holiday, enjoying the sun shine, and having a peaceful fun time. While I was away I brought myself some new perfume, which I like to do whenever I go away. In the duty free, I like looking at all the different perfumes that are advertised on the TV or from magazines, therefore I had plenty to choose from. I decided on Lovestruck by Vera Wang, this has been promoted by Leighton Meester (Blair from Gossip Girl). The scent is floral, soft and a little sweet, not too over powering, so can be worn for any occasion. The bottle itself is very interesting, with a larger purple flower detail on the top with a ribbon as an added effect. Over all the bottle is very pretty, therefore will look nice on your dressing table, not to be hidden away in a draw. However the box is extra large to make sure all the flower detail is kept nice, so the perfume contained inside isn't that big.
Over all this is nice fresh perfume, a floral touch for any occasion.

Smell you later...

New Large Bag

Hi all,

When I head off my holidays (I haven't got one plan yet for this summer) I like to take a large carry on bag with me. Keeping inside items of clothing as well as a spare pair of shoes, makeup, a book for the flight and other plenty of useful stuff. Yeah, I carry a lot, so its no surprise that my main carry on bag has fallen apart. Therefore when I was out shopping recently and came across s new bag, I just had to have it!!
From Sainsbury's only £14.

Pretty Nautical style bag, with a front zipped pocket, large handles. Zipped main part of the bag, with inner zip section and pocket for your phone.
I haven't got a holiday planned yet, but I though I'd get it while I saw it. As I wouldn't find one when I wanted it.

One year since the Brits!

Hello everyone,

Well, officially tomorrow, will be one year since I was lucky enough to win a competition, that got me tickets for me and a friend to go to the Brit awards 2012. Well this year, like most people I will be watching the show from my sofa as I didn't find a golden ticket to go this year. However the line up looks like great entertainment, with performances from Robbie Williams, Emeli Sande, Mumford & Sons, Muse, Ben Howard, and One Direction, to keep you all glued to your TV. But what everyone is really waiting for is to find out who the winners and losers are on then night!! Well we will all just have to wait and watch to find out!! Who's going to steal the show? Not just awards but outfits too!
I know last year I had such an amazing time, I hope everyone who gets to go this year enjoys their night. I'll be watching wishing I could be there too.

Theatre Show - Wicked

Hey,

Just thought I'd let you in a bit of knowledge i found out recently.... Well the hit West End show "Wicked" is going on tour next year!!! (If you can tell I'm a little EXCITED) I'm lucky that I've already seen the show on the West End not only once, but twice. The first time was a few years back when I went with a friend who had already seen the show, but had wanted to go again, also asking me to join her as she knew I would love the show, which I did. The second time was back in 2011 when a group of friends of mine organized a surprise trip to London and see the show for our friends birthday. I just sat back to enjoy the show all over again... This time singing along to the song too, but not to loudly.
Now for any of you that don't know what "Wicked" is about or who have never even heard of the show (Where have you been??? Under a rock?) Well it's based of the 1995 Gregory Maguire novel "Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West", a parallel novel of the film from 1939 "The Wizard of Oz" and the classic story by L. Frank Baum "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz". Overall the show tell the witches tale, their point of view before Dorothy even arrives in Oz but also after Dorothy leaves back to Kansas. The show tells the tale of two unlikely friends in Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) and Glinda (the Good Witch of the North), how they struggle to even become friends with their different points of view on life, their personalities, rivalry over the same man, but also their reaction to the Wizard and the secrets he is hiding. The story is told beautifully by incorporating  music and song, I'm sure you will be singing long after you have left the theatre, including the most famous from the show, which has featured in TV shows such as Glee, "Defying Gravity". (This is my favorite song from the show, features a dramatic stage effects in the performance).
Well you might be asking what's my point in tell you all about this show, well as I've already said the show is touring next year, and its head to my local theatre in Milton Keynes. The tickets go on sale Wednesday 20th February 2013 (Today, the date I've posted this to the world) for the performances next year. I believe this is going to be a very popular show, so one you will want to book early to avoid disappointment. Therefore act early or you will miss out on the magic!

Hope you get a chance to see this wicked show!!

The hairy bikers at Milton Keynes theatre

Evening all,

When my Nan heard that the hairy bikers where going to Milton Keynes theatre for two nights she wanted to go see them and find out some new recipes to cook. Well me being me, I thought she shouldn't go on her own, so me, my Mum and Gramp went too. Now, I have seen a few of their shows which are on the BBC and have enjoyed their style of entertainment as well as the mouth watering food they make. I've never tried any of their recipe,s but after watching their show I'd be happy to give one or two ago. I thought the show would be just them cooking, however it included many more laughs!! They presented short films about some of their trips including the different food they sampled... most that were very different from the day to day foods we enjoy such as bugs and Scorpio's. Dave and Si (both of the hairy bikers) got the audience involved with each item them were cooking asking people to sit down and eat the meal they had created, but also had members of the audience up to participate in games. They were both very cheeky chaps, who used a bit of bad language, but also showed you some fabulous food that you can create. You could tell that they had taken time and thought into creating a show for all to enjoy!

I now just need to find out one of their books and get creating some mouth watering food!

My New Avon Nail Polish

Afternoon,

I love my nails to look pretty, I can't always keep them that way with my job, as my hands get dirty quickly, but also I use water a lot therefore the polish doesn't always stay on my nails. I thought I'd get some new polishes anyway and make them pretty for a while.
Avon has some lovely colours in their collection, I thought I'd try two from their Nailwear pro+ range, "Sweet Pea Dream" and "Blue Water Lilies"

I decided to put both colours on and wear them together,
mainly because I couldn't choose which one to wear.
They are both nice colours, and show up well on my nails, easy to paint on my nails. I Think the "Blue  Water Lilies" colour would look nice for an evening out, where are the "Sweet Pea Dream" colour is soft that I could wear it all day long and match any item of clothing.

A Little present for myself

Hello everyone,

Last week I was sorting some stuff out in my room when I came across a voucher that been put in draw and forgotten about. It was from my birthday for Pandora, so I thought I better get to the shop so I could treat myself to a little charm.
I couldn't decide what charm to choose. I decided on
a cute little aeroplane to remind me of my recent holiday
to Lanzarote.

It looks pretty on my bracelet with my other charms.

I do love collecting different charms to remind me of different places I've been or events that have happened. Would like to get some more for my birthday this year... (Hint)

book review - Jodi Picoult "The Pact"

Afternoon,

With the evenings being dark, I decided to get my head in a new book. Next of my list to read was "The Pact" by Jodi Picoult, I've read and enjoyed many of her books so decided to try another of her novels.

The Blurb reads:
The Hartes and the Golds have lived next door to each other for
eighteen years. They have shared everything from family picnics to
chicken pox - so it's no surprise that in high school Chris and Emily's
friendship blossoms into something more.

When the midnight calls come in from the hospital, no one is
prepared: Emily is dead at seventeen from a gunshot wound to the
head, inflicted by Chris as part of an apparent suicide pact. He tells
police the next bullet was meant for himself. A local detective has her
doubts. And the Hartes and Golds must face every parent's worst
nightmare and question: do we ever really know our children at all?

A gripping story about two young lives, their tale is told throughout the book, from both points of view, how they grow up so close like brother and sister then turn into boyfriend and girlfriend. but the fairy tale that both set of parents expect turns more into a nightmare. Only Chris knows the truth, but even he is unsure of the whole truth. The book questions young love, suicide and how close are friends that feel more like family. I feel in love with this story, spending hours turning the pages, wanting to know answers for myself, finding out the truth about these two families. If you haven't read one of Jodi's novels before, try this one for size, you'll full in love with each page you turn.

I'm moving on to my next book, which i will share with you soon.
Take care,

Love Lolly

Night out at the Ballet

Morning,

On Friday my Mum and I had a trip to the theatre to see Matthew Bourne's "Sleeping Beauty". I had been trying to get tickets for this show for a while, they had sold out for all the dates I wanted to go, however I was lucky and kept asking each time I visited the theatre and was able to get two returned tickets!! I love going to theatre and ballets are my favourite. When I was in school I did study dance for my GCSE's we studied many different dances and Choreographers. Through out all my work Matthew Bourne became my favourite. His works include, "The Nutcracker", "A Play Without Words" and The most famous of them all "Swan Lake" when the men are the swans.
"Sleeping beauty" is Matthew Bourne's third production using music written by Tchaikovsky. The performance works stunningly well with Tchaikovsky's music, Bourne has created a beautiful Gothic Romance within the fairy tale story. Bourne's style is always very modern, he still used classic moves, but is able to show a story through his style. So much to keep you interested, with humor included by the dancers with had the audiences laughing.

I love Matthew Bourne's work, and I can't wait to see what he creates next!
