The Host -film review

Hello film lovers,
It's Good Friday, I love the fact I've got a day off so I could chill, that included heading to the cinema to see the new film based on the Stephenie Meyers novel "The Host". I've been waiting for this film to come out since I heard that they were thinking of making it!! I've read the book so was excited to see how they would create it, but also to fill the void which twilight has left, hehe.
I must say I'm very please with how they created it, kept very close to the story line of the book, show cased the story beautifully. Wanda is placed into Melanie's body to find the last pocket of humans alive, her job is to search though Melanie's memories to find them. I wondered how they would show the two voices talking in one head, but it sounds like an echo round the room, it felt like you were in the characters head with everything going on. They are bonded together for the love of the same people, but have to react fast when a seeker wants to know where the humans are, she only wants to change them, not save them. But the family Melanie knew don't trust Wanda, but feel she has taken over Melanie's body. You feel stuck with these characters wanting both to live, but with one body to share, it makes their feelings complicated.
Overall the love story makes its beautiful, with the world changing around, it's great to know love still exists.

Hope you enjoy it too.

Book review - The Host

Dear book lovers,

Stephenie Meyer is best know for the wonderful "Twilight Saga" which i love, and read time and time again. However Stephenie also has another book to her name, "The Host " is a sci if fiction story of our world being taken over by another race who take over a humans body.
The Blurb reads:
Melaine Stryder refuses to fade away. The earth has been
invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human
hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity
has succumbed.

Wanderer, the invading 'soul' who has been given Melanie's
body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the
overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there
was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant
of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.

Melanie fills Wanderer's thoughts with visions of the
man Melanie loves - Jared, a human who still lives in
hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires,
Wanderer yearns for a man she's never met. As outside
forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies,
they set off to search for the man they both love.

This novel features what maybe the first love triangle which involves only two bodies, with you falling for the characters too!! Such a beautiful story that will have you hocked to how these three characters can cope together, but how they deal with the situation of the changing world around them. Each character adds another level to the story, with some against the human race, others willing to work together and some ready to fight back! The story is all told from Wanderer's point of view and how she copes with taking over Melaine's body, how she deals this new world she has been brought to, but also how she copes with this new emotion of love. A fantastic addition to Stephenie Meyer's collection of novels.

PS.. This book how now been made into a film, just like the Twilight saga, therefore a great reason to get in on the story.

My dream job

Dear dreams,

When I was I child I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. Many children in my classed answered fireman, police women or vet, my answer was "a mermaid". I didn't know they weren't real, I was 6 and watched the little mermaid again and again. I saw how beautiful Ariel was, how she found her prince, but also got to swim in the sea all the time (I loved to swim and nicknamed a water baby). Moving on a few years to when I was at middle school, to when I fell in love with music. I would listen to the radio in my room everyday, learning all the words to all my favourite songs. I was in the school choir, singing my heart out with my friends at school concerts. I dreamed that is would be a pop star singing my heart out to stadium's full of people, bringing smiles to their faces when I sung. Unfortunately I don't have the best voice in the world, I'm not the next Brittany spears or Taylor swift. I'm more the girl you see singing to a song in her car, with the windows done up tight so you can't hear her, but looks like she is enjoying herself (best way to be).
Fast forward to when I was 16, I became hocked to watching the tv and films. I could enjoy plenty of hours lost in another world. The places these films would take you, the lives many have lived and tales been told. From one side of the world to another, from the rich to the poor, the old and the young, but also including this world, and out of this world. The imagination used in films draws me in, I want to be part of this world, and this is where my next dream job came from. I wished I could be an actress, and tell many story's that people have created. At school I studied drama at GCSE and A-level, but being young and busy thinking about what I was going to do next I never did anything more about it, which is something I regret. Mainly because I didn't know where to start, but also I was busy with my social life, just wanting to enjoy being a young adult.
I'm now in my early 20's, working hard in a job I enjoy, but still wanting to dream.... I'd love to give my dreams ago, however like everything in life, it's knowing where to start. A few years ago I started to read much more than I ever had as a child, falling in love with many story's and characters. These books always bring me back to my dream of becoming an actress, telling someone's story, getting an audience involved with the life of a character. For me, I loving telling story's to my friends and family, about my life, story's I've read in the paper and books I've loved. I get very animated, reacting parts like a crazy person. But like everything in life, I don't have a clue where to start, but this isn't a dream I want to look back on in 20 year and ask "What if?" Therefore my only answer to this is react!! This means asking questions, but finding the right people to help me, I know it won't be easy, it could be a very long road, with many ups and downs. Now if anyone could help me please get in touch. For now I'll keep dreaming.... While I start a reaction.

Book review - The Gatecrasher

Morning,

I thought I'd give you another book review to enjoy, as an idea for your next read. Its another read from Madeleine Wickham also know as Sophie Kinsella.

The Blurb reads:
Fleur Daxeny is beautiful, unscrupulous, and has a large
wardrobe of black designer suits. With the help of The Times
announcements page she gatecrashes the funerals and memorial
services of the wealthy, preying on rich, vulnerable man. She
charms her way into their lives and onto their platinum credit
cards, take what she can, and then moves swiftly on.

When Richard Favour, a dull but wealthy businessman,
meets Fleur at his wife's memorial service, he's bowled over.
Gradually Fleur works her spell on Richard's reserved and
stilted family - transforming their lives while she moves in on
their wealth. She finds herself lingering longer than she
meant to, becoming involved in the family - but as
Fleur rifles through Richard's files, it becomes clear that she is
not the only one after his money.

A hugely enjoyable read, to follow the life of a women who preys on men at their weakest point. When you get involved with a family you find out everything about them, how can you turn away from a family who want you to stay? Another great read.

Jewellery - Belly Bars

Hiya All,

I popped into town this week, and while I was there I decided to get me some new Belly Bars. I've had my Belly button piece since I was fifteen, I love it! Many people don't like them, but that's their choice. While in Argos I brought myself a set of three new bars, gems in pink, blue and clear. Priced at £6.99 they are pretty, but also a great price.

All I need now is a toned tummy to show them off, that might take a bit longer....

Cute Bunny Ring

Hiya Everyone,

I love jewellery, its that added accessory to an outfit, which can make a big difference. I own many beautiful pieces of jewellery from ear rings to necklaces, however I've always looking and different items. I like to mix gold and silver, which I know a lot of people don't like to do. I have one gold ring that I don't take off, which I was given for my 18th Birthday, I'd some day like to get another gold ring to go with it. Moving on, back at christmas I was given a cute ring with a little bunny on it!
Its a gold colour, with a bunny on top which has black eyes.

Its quite big, so have to wear it on my middle finger or thumb.

Its a cute ring, I'm sure I'll be wearing it out a lot.

Mother's Day gift ideas

Hello everyone,

Just a quick reminder for you all, on Sunday it's Mothering Sunday!!! Yeah, you didn't remember right!! Well I'm here to help you out, I've been thinking what to get my own mum for the day, so thought I'd share with you some gifts.

Flowers Always Work -

Well lets say it... I'm biased as I work in the trade, but flowers are beautiful and whats better than giving them to your beautiful Mum right? You can choose flowers or colours that your mother prefers, there are plenty to choose from online, but to make the best of your present to your mum, you should visit your local florist...These are the people who KNOW about flowers, they will be able to help you, work with the price range you have, add that part your mum would love. A florists will also have plenty for you to choose from to make sure its perfect for your mum!

Here's two designs from Interflora to get you thinking:
Mothers Day Basket - From £29.99
Includes Roses and Carnations

Mothers Day Tea Cup Saucer Arrangement - Starts from £34.99
Includes Roses, Freesia and Germini.

Take Your Mum Out -
The whole point of Mothers day is to remember your mum, your the person who is like a mother to you, and what better way to show them how much you love them than going out with them for the day. How about taking her out for afternoon tea!
Here's a quote I found about where afternoon tea came from:

"Tea consumption increased dramatically during the early nineteenth century and it is around this time that Anna, the 7th Duchess of Bedford is said to have complained of "having that sinking feeling" during the late afternoon to her  butler. At the time it was usual for people to take only two main meals a day, breakfast, and dinner at around 8 o'clock in the evening. The solution for the Duchess was a pot of tea and a light snack, taken privately in her boudoir during the afternoon.
Later friends were invited to join her in her rooms at Woburn Abbey and this summer practice proved so popular that the Duchess continued it when she returned to London, sending cards to her friends asking them to join her for tea and a walk in the fields."

You can search the web to find your local place, many hotels offer this, most prices range between £8 - £15, you can get a selection of cakes and mini sandwiches. It will make a lovely day, which I'm sure your mum will love!

Make a Hamper
Collect a few items together such as ranges of food and drinks - Like chocolates, jams, honey, tea and a bottle of wine, grab a box, wrap your box in a nice paper, add all your items, place a bow on top and
you've got your own gift box made with your own mum in mind. You could create a great pamper box with bath bombs, shower gels, face masks and other pampering items, tell your mum to relax. Or even a beautiful fruit basket (As many people are trying to be healthy). You can buy many different hampers online if you haven't got time to get all the items, but also many of the companies deliver to your mothers door too!
I found this picture on line, but it gives you an idea.

Create a Homemade gift
Who know your mother better than YOU! You can make an item just for your mum, and if you are short of money this is the perfect answer. There are many things your can make, from cakes, dinner, ornaments or even a voucher book, where you give a list of jobs you can do for your mum that she can use at anytime.

I hope I've been of some help and got your thinking ready for Mothers day as its only days away.

Christmas Cards made in February?

Hiya all,

No you aren't going mad, you read the title correctly, I know its only still Spring (Not that the weather would show that) but in February while I had a little time I found some craft materials to create Christmas cards. You don't need to be thinking of Christmas just yet, it is months away, but while I had a bit of time I did decide to create some Christmas cards as I could pack them away and bring them back out nearer Christmas, but also save me some time nearer Christmas.
Here's what I made:

At least I've made a start with these cards, as they do take time to create.
