Book Review: The Gift - Cecelia Ahern

Morning all,

I love to read to chill out, it sends me into another world, away from all the stress I'm feeling. But they also help you to take the persons life in the book and use it to reflect on your own life.

The blurb reads:
If you could make one wish,
what would it be?

Lou Suffern wishes he would be in two places at once.
His constant battle wit the clock drives his wife and
family crazy.

Gabe is the homeless man who sits outside Lou's office.
When Lou invites Gabe into the building and into his life,
Lou's world is changed beyond all measure...

An enchanting and thoughtful story that speaks
to all of us about the value of time and what
is truly important in life.

This is a beautiful story, of how we all feel about life sometimes. Work can over power our home life, trying to make sure our family's want for nothing, but mostly all they want is time with you. Lou finds himself learning that his family just want to spend time with him, and have his focus on them. Its hard to drag him from work!
I'm sure many people can relate to this story set in Ireland, forgetting what is most important in life. Money comes and goes, but time will always run out with all of us. Therefore I will say to you all, spent time with the people you love, do what you enjoy and smile BECAUSE you only get one life, and one chance.

I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did

A Hen Party of fun!!

Hellloooooo,

I've got a wedding to attend this weekend of a friend, but two weeks ago we had her Hen party at Bistro Live in Milton Keynes. Its a fun night out if you've got a birthday, a hen do, or something to celebrate! Our party went dressed up with the theme of "B" i think mainly to go with the B in Bistro Live but also so my friend wanted to dress up as a Bride. If you Google what to wear being with "B" it gives you many ideas, however I already had one in mind, I wanted to be a Ballerina. I always wanted to be one when i was little, and trained for many years, but life didn't lead that way, but for one night I was. I just needed a tutu! I brought a cheap one from a shop in town but decided with help from my mum to make it bigger, so she made another two to go under the main part to make it stand out more. I brought a leotard from New Look as they are still in fashion and easy to get hold of.

Overall it was a great night and such fun, you start the night with cocktails followed by a three course meal. After they clear the tables so you can get up and dance on the tables to a live band and a DJ. We just danced the night away!
The start of my tutu! The one in the main photo's below are the finished
design.

The bride on the far right and two Bee's with moi in the middle.

Moi with all the balloons I was allowed to take from the venue.

A birthday gift

Hello,

At work it was a colleges birthday and he was turning the big "60" he didn't mind who knew, but what to get him from as all was difficult. Then I came across a great design, it was something that a friend had made for her brother, so i decided to use the same idea. Our delivery driver loves sweets so this was a perfect design and cheap to create.

All I need was:

  • An Old shoes box
  • Dried Oasis foam (I'm a florists so have loads of this stuff)
  • Tissue paper
  • Wrapping paper
  • Lolly Pops
I wrapped the shoe box first with the lid underneath, making sure all of the box is covered. Then i covered the dried oasis foam with the tissue paper so it can't be seen, I placed the the oasis inside the shoes box (It should just a bit bigger than the shoe box so it pops over the top). All you need to do next is add as many lolly pops as you want! I went for 60 to reflect the age. Add a sign to make the design personal!

The materials
The finished design

And he seemed very happy with his present! Seen him each day
with a lolly pop.

Enjoy your day,

Birthday Cards for July and August

Hi,

I've been busy again making cards for birthdays, yep still plenty in July and August to keep me busy. There's what i made:
Two 50th birthday cards, same pictures, but a little different.

A cute card for my grandparents for their anniversary.

For a friend of my mum's who has been under the weather.

My brother went to two wedding last month, being a man he didn't
really think much about cards, therefore I made him two instead.

I'm sure I'll be making some more soon that I'll share with you all.

My brothers Birthday

Hello everyone,

Last month was my brothers birthday, he's two years older than me, but still a big kid at heart! We have planned to go scuba diving in the UK at some point as birthday presents to each other, however we aren't quite are when that will be. But I'm bring up his birthday to share with you what i made him. I had to give him something so I made him a cake to enjoy.
Here is ready to tuck into the cake!
However it is missing a little on the top, due to the fact it
suck to the lid of the tin! Oh well it didn't effect the taste of the cake.
And of course a homemade card for him!

Here's to another year for my brother, I just keep reminding him that hes getting older.

My birthday Pamper day

Afternoon all,

My birthday was this time last week (1st) and I spent the day out with my friend having a pamper day at a local spa. Now I've never been to a spa before but I really wanted a chill out day, as before we had said about a theme park, but with so much going on in my life I felt i needed a break, which my friend was more than pleased with!
We booked in at Bannatyne spa in Milton Keynes, we went with a spa day offer on their website at £35, which give you a choice of Energising Facial, Swedish Back Neck and shoulder massage, or an Elemis Exfoliating body polish. Also use of all the facilities gym, any classes on offer, Poll, Jacuzzi, Sauna and steam room. You take a book with you to chill by the indoor pool, while taking a break from the relaxing steam room. We had lunch just outside in a green house area, still in our white dressing gowns.
Overall this was a great chill out day, it can be a perfect gift for a loved one for their birthday too!

I just need to go back soon for another massage soon...

Book review: The Time of my Life - Cecelia Ahern

Hiya,

A book review for you all, another book that i hope you will all enjoy as much as i did. From the author who also brought you "PS, I LOVE YOU" this is another beautiful tale. I haven't read ps, i love you yet, but have the book sitting on my shelf wait for some of my spare time.

The blurb reads:
Are you taking your life for granted?

Lucy Silchester is. She's busied herself with other
stuff: friends' lives, work issues, her deteriorating
car, that kind of thing. But she's stuck in a rut - and
deluding everyone. Only Lucy knows the real truth.

Time for a wake-up call - a meeting with life.
And life turns out to be a kindly, rather run-down
man in an old suit, who is determined to bring about
change - and won't let Lucy off the hook.

Sometimes we all need to make time
for our life...

Sometimes in life we forget what we wanted, we busy our self with life as we know it, work, friends and family issues that aren't really important, spent to much time watching rubbish TV, or shows we've already seen many times before. Sometimes is takes someone outside of your world to give you a reality check! That is what happens to the main character "Lucy" in this book, she's fallen into a rut. Her life is trying to help her find a way to enjoy life again.

Perfect book to enjoy the in sun shine we are expecting this week.
