Last Weeks Trip to London

Hello,

I know I'm a little late writing this but I've been having a busy week.
Well two weeks ago (Yep its a late post, I know, sorry) I headed to London with my parents to see a west end show. We had prebooked tickets to see "Mamma Mia" in the evening, which we all loved the film, as well as Abba's music so have been waiting to see this show for a while.
We arrived early into London ready to explore some of the museums, but on pasting a few of the theater's my  parents thought we should try our luck at getting tickets for a matinee performance. We have all seen a few different shows, as we live an hour by train from London and are very lucky that we have Milton Keynes theatre on our door step. We past by Phoenix Theatre which has the new production of "Bend it like Beckham" only started in May. By luck we were able to get £15 tickets (These were front row.. which was very close, I'd advise getting a seat back for a better view).
This show is worth going to!! Just an amazing show, telling a story I remember from my early teens.

The story centres around Jess a young girl who loves to play football, she's a striker with a love of David Beckham... No one comes close in Jess's eyes. However in her family its not right for a girl to be playing football, with all them men. It's looked down upon.

When she meets another girl who loves football Jess is lead into another world where Girls playing football is fine... not just that she's on a team, winning games, just enjoying herself. However with her family not happy about her playing football, her sister getting married and her new bestfriend liking the same guy... its not all just about the beautiful game.
This is a colourful show, with the perfect mix of songs that will have you singing away too. It's one I'd love to see again soon. Just amazing with a wonderful cast that made it all so enjoyable.
It doesn't change too much from the film, so is still the story you know and love. If you get a chance to see this, go see it!!

All the pictures have been taken from the musical's website, where they have more and loads of info.

The second show that we got to see was the evening performance, after grabbing a subway as we didn't want a sit down meal, we strolled along the river until half an hour before the show to see "Mamma Mia" at Novello Theatre not far from Covent Garden.

On the eve of her wedding Sophie using her mothers diary she invite three men to her wedding who could all be her father. She hopes when she meet them she will know who her father is...
Set on a beautiful Greek Island, Sophie just wants to know who her father is, its the last thing she knows she need to know before she can get married. This beautiful tale is told using ABBA songs which we all know and love at perfect times though out the show. Just so many songs fitted in, from "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!" to "The Name of the Game" Plus including "Take a Chance on me" and sooo many, many more, you'll be singing along too (I know i was, plus both my parents)
Its a fabulous show, with detail to each song fitting in perfectly with the story line. A simple set, and wonderful cast who performed perfectly. Overall superb show to see.

After a great day in London and two shows under out beats it was no wonder that we fell asleep on the train ride home. Don't worry we woke up in time to get off at the right stop and make it home.

I love going to London, I'd live there for a while if i could... So much to do, but enjoy.
Till next time London.

Love Lolly
xoxo
