Book Review - The Undomestic Goddess

Greetings,

With the dark nights drawing in, I thought I'd share with you another book for you to enjoy.

The Blurb reads:
The story of a girl who needs to slow down.
To find herself. To fall in love.
And to discover what an iron is for...

Samantha is a high-powered lawyer in London.
She works all hours, has no home life, and cares only
about getting a partnership. She thrives on the pressure
and adrenalin. Until one day... she makes a mistake.
A mistake so huge, it'll wreck her career.

She walks right out of her office, get on the first
train she see, and finds herself in the middle of nowhere.
Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she is mistaken
for the interviewee housekeeper and finds herself being
offered the job. They have no idea they've hired a
Cambridge-educated lawyer with an IQ of 158 -
Samantha has no idea how to work the oven.

Disaster ensues. It's chaos as Samantha battle with the
washing machine... the ironing board... and attempts to
cook a cordon bleu dinner. But gradually, she falls in love
with her new life in a wholly unexpected way.

Will her employers ever discover the truth?
Will Samantha's old life ever catch up with her?
And if it does... will she want it back?

Another great read from Sophie Kinsella, make you wonder would you be able to start a fresh somewhere new, doing something you aren't used to and making that your life? To read about someone who can't do simple day to day tasks, and the mess Samantha gets in, will have you laughing out loud!

I hope you enjoy this book.

The English National Ballet

Dear Readers,

This week has been a bit different for me, I was asked if I would like to help back stage at Milton Keynes theatre and be a dresser for the week, helping the English Nation Ballet and their production of "The Sleeping Beauty". Now I love Ballet and jumped at the chance of helping!! The only experience I've had before was in school productions and the ballet school I went to when I was young, so this was all new to me. Tuesday night was the dress rehearsal for all the dancers and team. They hadn't done this production since 2008 and so the dancers were quite new to their performances, and their costumes. I was working with all the men, helping them get ready before the show and between act. They were great people, who love their job!! Pleased that they were performing. The costumes were stunning, from the Cavaliers to the King and the Carabosse. Now some of these outfits were stunning to wear, but I didn't know how they could dance in them, however the dancers did it with ease. My favourite costume of the men other than the Carabosse was the Bluebird! The colour of his top was stunning, with glitter detail, I just fell in love with this costume... he even had blue ballet shoes (I want a pair of these). There were plenty of costume changes back stage, that by the end of the week I had just about worked them all out. Also the team back stage were fantastic! The wardrobe staff were always to hand to help the dancers with everything they need, making quick alterations between shows.
I didn't get to watch any of the show as I spent all my time out the back, but the performance shall be in London in early January at the London Coliseum, I'm gonna try and book tickets ASAP for my friend and I.

PS. Check out their website to see where to see "The sleeping Beauty" and also many more they are performing, and where. http://www.ballet.org.uk/index.php

Strictly is BACK

Hey,

Autumn is here, followed by dark night, rain, wind and Strictly. Yes, i did say strictly, by that I do mean strictly come dancing. I'm quiet happy to stay in on a Saturday night to watch this show. The sparkly on a Saturday night is so much fun, and I'm a girl who loves my dancing so this is perfect for me. Of course we have a whole load of new celebrities to entertain us.

The Celebrity                          Professional
Colin Salmon                            Kristina Rihanoff
Dani Harmer                             Vincent Simone
Denise van Outen                     James Jordan
Fern Britton                              Artem Chigvintsev
Jerry Hall                                 Anton du Beke
Johnny Ball                     Aliona Vilani  (However on the first week Iveta Lukosiute)
Kimberley Walsh                     Pasha Kovalev
Lisa Riley                                 Robin Windsor
Louis Smith                              Flavia Cacace
Michael Vaughan                     Natalie Lowe
Nicky Byrne                             Karen Hauer
Richard Arnold                         Erin Boag
Sid Owen                                  Ola Jordan
Victoria Pendleton                    Brendan Cole

I was quite busy over the weekend, so had to catch up on the two shows on Sunday night, however the wait was worth it! Didn't they all do well. It's always exciting to see the first show as we get to see what each of the celebrities are like. There are already a few we expect to do well before they even hit the dance floor, the two Olympians Louis Smith and Victoria Pendleton. Bless them, they have extra pressure on them to do well. Poor Victoria looked and seemed so nervous and that affect her dance, but Louis show us a few of his gymnastic moves within his dance.
But my favourites were Lisa Riley - She seemed to be having so much fun on that dance floor!! Wow she showed that she's got the moves and even picked up her partner Robin. Also Colin Salmon showed he's man to watch! I didn't really known who he was (I've been told he was in a Bond Film) but he left his mark on that dance floor. Kimberley Walsh also showed she is in this competition, maybe helping Pasha to move from last years second place to taking home the trophy this year... Only time will tell.

All that is left to say is roll on next week, when we find out who is the first to leave.

Book Review - Twenties Girl

Dear Readers,

I thought I'd share with you another book for my growing collection. I love this book and think its one you can easily get lost in, one i could also see being made into a film as it's such a fun uplifting story. Yes, I think you will enjoy it!!
"Twenties Girl" By Sophie Kinsella

The Blurb Reads:
Lara has always had an overactive imagination.

Now she wonders if she is losing her mind. Perfectly normal twenty-
something girls just don't get visited by ghosts! But inexplicably, the
spirit of Lara's Great Aunt Sadie - in the form of a bold, demanding,
Charleston-dancing girl - has appeared to make one last request: Lara
must track down a missing necklace Sadie simply can't rest without.

Lara's got enough problems of her own. Her startup company is
floundering, her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa,
and she's been dumped by the love of her life.

But as Lara spends time with Sadie, life becomes more glamorous,
and their treasure hunt turns into something intriguing and romantic.
Could Sadie's ghost be the answer to Lara's problems -
and can two girls from different times end up learning something
special from each other?

A fun and fabulous read!! I was so addicted to this book I just couldn't put it down. When you've finished you'll be grabbing flapper girl outfits and bringing them back!! Now, I'm a big Sophie Kinsella fan, I've read most of her book and everyone of them has me smiling. They are an easy read getting you to fall into the story and be gripped that you won't be able to stop turning the pages.

With the dark nights about, you'll be able to curl up with a warm drink and this fabulous book....Enjoy!
