New shoes - Converse style from Primark

Afternoon,

I popped into town last week to buy my friends birthday present, while I was there I thought I'd have a look and see what I could find in Primark. I love this shop for cheap style, there is always plenty to find. I'm loving converse shoes at the mo, I've got a real pair that I brought in America which I love. But I can't afford to splash the cash on more pairs in all the colours... Therefore Primark have some great lookalikes.
I fell in love with these the moment I saw them, the zip design on the side and buckle at the back adds more to the style of the shoe. Also I'm a pink girl at heart so makes it even more girly. However I must say I am tempted to add diamonds to the front of the toes watch this space...

book review - Jodi Picoult "Sing You Home"

Hello everyone,

Yes I've been reading again. Bet your wondering how I ever get anything done... I don't know either. Well the book I've had my nose stuck in, is another Jodi Picoult novel, "Sing You Home".
The Blurb reads:
After Zoe Baxter loses her baby, the only way she can
find of coping is to try again. But her husband Max
disagrees - more than that, he wants a divorce. When
they separate, there is no mention of the unborn children
they created together, still waiting at the clinic.

Then Zoe falls in love again, out of the blue, and finds
herself with an unexpected second chance to have a family.

But Max has found a new life too - one with no place in
it for people like Zoe. And he will stand up in court to say
that her new choice of partner makes her an unfit mother.

Out of all of Jodi Picoult's novels I've read so far, this is the most powerful, asking plenty of questions into people personal lives. Asking what they are doing behind closed doors, who they are in love with, what they believe, means they should or should not have a family. Questions of sexuality vs believes of faith. In life is see it as each to your own, people should be able to believe in what they like, as long as they don't force or affect other people. "Sing You Home" asks many questions, but is also unique as a sound track has been created which you can download and listen to the listed track for each chapter.
Over all another gripping story and a brilliant read from Jodi Picoult, with many questions you might ask yourself about the story. So many emotions from all the characters included. Perfect, up to date, for the world we live in today.

Sweet Tooth

Hello,

Now I must admit I have such a sweet tooth which all my friends and family know about. We can be in the middle of a night out with the drinks flowing, and I have one thing stashed in my bag, a small pack of love hearts. I'm sure in my large handbag right now you could find some, or last month I had a mini egg in there for a while. If I'm ever craving something it will be sweet, if i could choose I'm sure I would have dessert over all other courses and even have it before the others! I've got so many packets of love hearts about the house, bags and even hidden in my car!
My friends have been buy them for me recently and thought I'd show you the different one's I've got.. Ps I'm a little excited!!
They are in their very own tin!

These just made me laugh, my younger cousin would like these.

I was given this last week as a thank you gift.

SO if you an find me, its because I'm busy eating love hearts.

Enjoy your week,

A jar of sweets

Hey all,

Yet again I've been busy making different things recently, mainly as presents for many of my friends. I've been collecting jam jars to fill with sweets.
Materials needed (Apart from Sweets)

Different size jars.

I decorated the tops to hide any writing
Added ribbon and a label to the front.

Many more I've made.
They make a cute present for sweet lovers (All my friends are) I could always fill them with their favourite. Overall a great way to recycle left over jars and create a nice present.

Just a little thank you with cakes

Afternoon,

I've been really busy the last few weeks, with work, theatre trips, helping friends and family. But I know when to say thank you to a friend who's helped me out too, therefore I decide the best way to say thank you was to make something for her... I baked :)

I had a go at making some marble cakes, half normal mixture the other half chocolate, with sugar icing and chocolate sprinkles. I brought this cute cup cake box for £1, which I thought was bargain, making it into a beautiful gift.
Arrives flat packed.

My half eaten cake so you could see the middle... I think not bad for my
first attempt. (I liked the taste)

My friend text me, telling me that she loved the cakes, but also her husband enjoyed them too. He also asked if the box could be refilled... Cheeky.

Enjoy your day,

Theatre Night - The Great Gatsby. The Northern Ballet

Evening all,

I had a very busy day on Tuesday, but was looking forward all day to the evening. I had tickets book to see The Northern Ballet's production of The Great Gatsby. I love going to see the ballet so was excited when the Northern Ballet were returning to my local theatre, I knew I wanted to see the performance. However I didn't know what the story was about, so with a quick google search I was able to find the info i needed. Therefore unbeknown I was able to find out about this classic story by F.Scott Fitzgerald. The story takes place in during the roaming twenties and is told through the eyes of the main character Nick who lives in just outside New York in long Island, he lives next door to mysterious millionaire Jay Gatsby. He find out about Gatsby's past and how he is in love with Nick's married cousin, and believes he can win her back. The story takes you on an adventure through this strange mixed up love story.
The performance was beautiful with mini staging used at times so the sole focus was on the dancers, costumes reflected the era of the time, with flapper girls and gangstas. The music was a full orchestra creating a wonderful a complement to the dancers. This was a striking piece of work by The Northern Ballet, created a beautiful performance for all to enjoy.

Bling up my shoes!

To all my fashion friends,

There are so many different items to buy on the high street at the mo, but some times you can quiet find the right thing you want. I love shoes, and have plenty!! (But always can do with more) I'm in love with my converse that I brought from the USA, but I also love my converse style shoes I got cheap from my local supermarket. However I wanted them to stand out a bit, to I decided to add a bit of bling to them. I still had some diamante's left over from when I did the same to a pair of heels. So it cost me nothing!!
BEFORE

AFTER
I'm much happier with my new look shoes.

I'm looking what to decorate next...

Film review - Jack the giant slayer

Hello all,

Last week I met up with a few friends, we had intended to see the new GI Joe film, however the showing times at our local theatre were rubbish, either too early or too late, as by the time it started I was still stuck in traffic from leaving work... Therefore we grabbed some food and chose a different film. We all decided on "Jack the Giant slayer" the remake of the classic story Jack and the Bean Stalk, with many British stars including Ewan McGregor and Nicholas Hoult (yep the guy who was the kid in about a boy, love that film). Jack, a young farmhand, open the gate way between the world of giants and the human race restarting the ancient war between. He ends up stuck in the middle of it all, but also fighting to save the captured princess. It's another twist on a classic fairy tale, bringing you into a fantasy world. Some of the cgi was a bit Questionable but passable. A predictable story line of a guy saving the girl, but still a lovely tale, with plenty of fighting, an easy watching film.
There seems to be plenty of fairy tales being brought to the big screen, this was enjoyable once it got going, with a very interesting ending bringing it to the present!! (Don't want to ruin it, but love it!)
Therefore it you want an easy watching film, with a story line that you can follow, pick this film!

Hope you enjoy,

Love Lolly

Night at the theatre. Review - The Woman in Black

Afternoon all,

This week my friends and I headed to Milton Keynes theatre to see the touring production of "The Woman In Black" knowing we were in for a night of fright. This was my third time of seeing the play, my first time was 8 years ago at Milton Keynes and two years ago in London. So you can tell that I love this production as I'm happy to go back again and again.
The production is performed by only two actors who play all the parts even creating the idea that here is a dog on the stage. Limited props are used in many different ways creating a train, a desk and even a horse and cart. Very clever! Just because the stage is simple, the play is far from it, making you wonder what's next.
The story is based on the experience of a young man who goes to sort if the estate of one of his clients but ends up getting a fright when he finds a ghostly white lady dressed in black, all the locals know of the story and are scared of the lady in black. The characters take you though the story, getting the audience into this scary tale. At times it is very jumpy, with the unexpected appearing.
The story will leave you will chills as you head home.

If you haven't seen it, it's one to watch. Now I know there has been a film made of the play, I haven't watched it yet, but I've heard it doesn't do it justice.

Anyway, enjoy what's left of the weekend.

Craft - decorating a Jewellery box

Morning everyone,

When it's time to shop for a friends birthday, I search the shops and online to find that perfect gift that I hope they will love. For some people it's harder that others, I find buying clothes for people hard, unsure of sizes, style and colour... So I just buy clothes for myself. On the 1st April I had a close friends birthday, and was having trouble thinking what to get her, she loves baking, but I didn't have a clue what she didn't have. I came across a small jewellery box in shop one day, it was light brown wood, a little boring but gave me a great idea! I'd decorate it just for her! Therefore out came all the paints, and stencils as well and newspaper so I didn't make too much mess. I started with a white base, then painted each sides and the top. After I decided to add cute little hearts as extra detail.
I enjoyed painting it, but it took ages to dry!

Just hope my friend liked it too!,

Theatre night - Hairspray

Hello,

The Easter weekend was a busy time for me, but Monday I make sure I found time to head to Milton Keynes theatre to see the touring production all singing, all dancing and big hair of "Hairspray". If you want a fun night out, this is for you. The show stars Mark Benton (from Waterloo road) as Edna Turnblad, Lucy Benjamin (Eastenders) as Velma Von Tussle, and Marcus Collins (from the X factor). The actress who plays Tracy Turnblad (Freya Sutton) this production of hairspray marks her professional theatre debut, I must say she didn't disappoint, but was wonderful as Tracy!! Such an amazing voice, which had me glued to the stage.
I have seen the film which stars some big names such as John Travolta, Queen Latifah and Zac Efron. But this production is just as wonderful, full of a few extras that the film doesn't have, I loved the scene the jail. All the songs you love in the film are included, letting you sing with them. Such an up beat, happy show, you won't be able to stop smiling, letting the show into your heart. The story is about a young girl from Baltimore who is larger than life, and not like to the normal girl who gets to be on tv, but that's her dream. One show is the only place she wants to be "The Corny Collins Show", the young dance and music show. When a place opens up she heads for her dream, however she doesn't understand why her black friends aren't invited too. This leads to Tracy standing up against Segregation, putting her life in the line for others, in a state who are not used to different races. The story show the power for the fight against segregation, something that some of us take for granted now.

Over all this is an enjoyable show, and a perfect way to spend your time. All the actors had you wanting to jump out of your seat and join them!!!

Enjoy your week.
